MAINS TARGET 500

BPSC Mains Special Program - History, Polity & Essay

What is Mains Target 500?

The 72nd BPSC Prelims postponement has handed every aspirant a few extra months - Mains Target 500 Course exists to make sure that time actually gets converted into marks instead of quietly disappearing. Rather than attempting the full Mains syllabus, this program picks a specific, calculated slice of it: 500 of the total 900 Mains marks, drawn from History, Polity, and Essay - the three subjects where focused, repeated-topic preparation yields the most reliable return.

This is a targeted preparation program, not a full syllabus course. The selection of topics inside History and Polity isn't arbitrary - it's built around the segments and modules that repeat most often across past papers, so the time invested goes toward what's actually likely to be asked rather than the syllabus in its entirety.

Subjects & Marks Breakdown

History – 90-100 Marks out of 114 Marks

The full History syllabus divides into six segments. This program targets four of them - the ones with the highest concentration of repeated, exam-relevant content:

  • Tribal and Peasant Revolts
  • Revolt of 1857
  • Art and Culture
  • Important Personalities

Two segments (Indian National Movement, and Indian History from Bihar's Perspective) sit outside this targeted course - not because they're unimportant, but because the four selected segments alone already account for 90- 100 of the paper's 114 History marks.

Polity - 90-100 Marks out of 114 Marks

The full Polity syllabus divides into twelve modules. This program targets seven:

  • Constitution and Constitutionalism
  • Preamble
  • DPSP
  • Fundamental Rights and Duties
  • President and Governor
  • Centre–State Relations
  • Local Self Government

These seven were chosen for being the most repeated, most frequently tested modules - together covering 90- 100 marks of the paper's 114 Polity marks.

Essay - Full Syllabus, 300 Marks

No targeting or shortlisting here, because none is possible. Essay is the single most unpredictable paper in the Mains: final selection results routinely show students scoring anywhere from 110 to 190 marks on the same paper, and that swing is often what separates a rank from a miss. Given how much weight it carries (300 of 900 marks) and how directly it decides the final merit list, Essay gets full, undivided attention throughout the program.

Total Marks Targeted: 500 of 900

Built From the Basics

Mains Target 500 doesn't assume prior Mains experience. Answer writing is taught from fundamentals - how to read a question, structure a response, and build content density - so the program works equally well for a first-time Mains attempter as it does for someone refining an existing approach.

Testing & Evaluation

10 evaluated tests across the program:

  • 3 History Sectional Tests
  • 3 Polity Sectional Tests
  • 4 Essay Sectional Tests

Every test comes with evaluation, not just a score - the point is to check whether a student can actually apply what's being taught in real answer writing. Each round of feedback is meant to directly improve the next attempt.

Daily Structure - Built to Stay Light

Only one class a day. With Prelims still ahead, the program is deliberately kept light rather than dense, so students can strengthen Mains preparation without it crowding out ongoing Prelims prep.

Who Should Join

  • Students who want to convert the postponement period into concrete Mains marks instead of losing momentum
